An effective yoga practice can be summed up using three S.
Stretch! Strength! Stability!
1. Stretch:
Always start your yoga practice with stretching. A good stretch opens up your stiff muscles and helps your flexibility. It also increases your body’s blood circulation resulting into a better physical and mental performance. The slow, calculated movement of stretching is calming to the mind and relieves tension. Stretch and de-stress!
2. Strength:
Working with your body weight builds up your muscle strength. Strengthening and development of certain muscle groups will tone your body. A stronger you will see a positive effect on your mental health, including reductions in anxiety, and depression, improved sleep, confidence, and self-esteem. Strengthen and tone!
3. Stability:
Balance is the key to everything. Holding your poses for a longer time builds stability. Each balance pose can be used to build strength in different body parts, muscles and joints. Additionally, they improve focus, concentration and memory. Stay stable and balanced!
