Get Set Yoga!

Starting a yoga practice can be hard, especially if you focus on creating a home practice.

While you seek to find and connect with yourself, what is essential is you disconnect with the surroundings and gear up.


So how do you get started?


Here are 5 basic tips to help you disengage and focus on self!

1. Disconnect

Yoga mat is a space you create for yourself to disconnect from the routine. It separates human body from the ground and prevents your body energy from being washed down. Moreover, a yoga mat helps you keep your hold strong on the surface. You will definitely enjoy your yoga practice more when your body stays put and keeps you from slipping!

2. Stay hydrated

Thirst is the most common distraction during yoga practice.

Pre-hydrate yourself before you begin your practice. Take adequate sips of water during your practice but not so much to make you feel bloated. You can spike your water with fruit flavours to re-hydrate after your practice.

3. Your body needs to breathe

Wearing tightly fitted clothes is definitely not going to make you flexible! Wear comfortable clothes. Grab those sweatpants, shorts, over sized tees, tank tops or anything that makes your movement easy. Your body needs to breathe as you stretch and sweat!

4. Breathe in and breathe out

Breathe in patience and breathe out expectations. Yoga is not about touching your toes. It is the journey that matters. Try to let go of the expectations and enjoy the moment.

5. Get help

Home practice is great but having a teacher look at your poses and

alignments is valuable. A teacher can customize the practice and keep you from injuring. A good yoga teacher will make you feel welcome, motivated and fall in love with yoga.
